About Me:
I qualified as a nurse back in 1995 and I love being a nurse it’s most rewarding and interesting career. You never stop meeting and helping new people and working as part of a team. I’m married with a daughter who is currently studying at York university to follow in her mother’s footsteps to also be a nurse one day. I have a dog called Bella.

My Work:
I currently work in primary care in which I work closely with other members of my team including general practitioners and others practice nurses. My role is a practice nurse prescriber where I specialise in managing people with type 2 diabetes. I also do other roles such as vaccinating children and adults such as during flu season and I deal with wounds which is vey good as a like seeing them look auwful and with my care they quickly get better.

Workplace:
I work in general practice with the best team of nurses and general practitioners. We work very closely supporting each other through challenging needs of general practice but our main aim is to meet the needs of our community giving them above and beyond.

Were you ever in trouble at school?
All the time for being too quiet! which my colleagues won’t believe.
What's the best thing you've done in your career?
Passing my nurse independent prescribing course. I’m not very academic but it shows with hard work and dedication you can achieve anything.
What or who inspired you to do your job?
My father was admitted to hospital with a collapsed lung and I experienced first hand how caring and dedicated the nurses were to helping make a difference to their patients and I knew from that day that’s what I would be.
If you weren't in healthcare, what job would you do?
I would have joined the military as they inspire me with their dedication and passion.
If you had 3 wishes for yourself what would they be? - be honest!
