I’m a Medic June 2017: Who’s taking part?

Schools taking part in I’m a Medic in June

This June, we’re launching the first I’m a Medic, Get me out of here event!

Between 12th – 23rd June students at 18 schools will put 6 healthcare professionals through their paces, in fast-paced live chats and probing questions on everything to do with general practice, from vaccinations, to prescriptions, to what it’s like to run a GPs surgery.

For the latest news and announcements about the event, find us on Twitter, @imamedic_uk, and follow the hashtag, #IAMUK.

Let’s meet the healthcare professionals and schools taking part…

General Practice Zone

This zone is funded by Health Education East Midlands, in partnership with The University of Nottingham, University of Leicester and Derby and Derbyshire LMC.

The Healthcare Professionals

Simon Browes | Nurse Practitioner, University of Nottingham

I’m a Clinical Director and Advanced Practitioner in charge of more than 60 nurses, paramedics and healthcare assistants

Shehla Imtiaz-Umer | Trainee GP, Royal Derby Hospital

I’m a junior doctor training to be a GP. I currently work in Paediatrics and see children as soon as they are born, in A&E and also the wards. I work with lots of different people who have expertise in many different areas

Katharine Bradbury | GP, Hucknall Road Medical Centre, Nottingham

I work as a GP in Nottingham seeing patients in my surgery and visiting them at home. My job is never boring: in the last week I saw a new born baby and an elderly person nearing the end of their life

Jonathan Harte | GP, Aspley Medical Centre

I’m your family doctor, the part of the NHS most people go to first and the only part of the NHS that looks at you as a whole not just parts

Emma Rowe | Practice Nurse, Church Walk Surgery, Nottingham

I am a Nurse who works in a doctor’s surgery. I take blood, I consult patients on long term conditions, I vaccinate adults and children and I assess and treat wounds

Christopher Symonds | Practice Manager, Newark Road Surgery, Lincoln

I am a Practice Manager, responsible for all aspects of health and safety, human resources, finance, training and Recruitment within the practice.
