Anna Davis Hi I’m a practice nurse I work at a general practice surgery and get involved in lots of things from giving vaccinations, doing smears, wound care, giving injections, blood pressures. Talking to people about how they would like to be healthier and sign posting them to services. Helping people with long term conditions such as asthma. How they can manage is day to day and what to do if they are struggling, or diabetes or cardiovascular problems such as high blood pressure. I am doing a prescribing course so I can order medications and I can assess people physically and mentally. I was a nurse for 16 years before being a practice nurse but you can go in from qualifiying and also be a practice nurse starting as a health care assistant or apprentice. Gordon Heeley I work at the Greendale Surgery 3 days a week and help the doctors and nurses in their work with patients.  I spend most of my time helping patients get the most out of the medicines they take making sure they are helping them, not getting any side effects and taking them correctly. I am one of a growing number of pharmacists who are able to prescribe medicines for patients something which has been one of the big changes to my job in the last 5 years. Jo Booth I currently work in primary care in which I work closely with other members of my team including general practitioners and others practice nurses. My role is a practice nurse prescriber where I specialise in managing people with type 2 diabetes. I also do other roles such as vaccinating children and adults such as during flu season and I deal with wounds which is vey good as a like seeing them look auwful and with my care they quickly get better. Philip Ambrose I work as a Neurologist. The commonest conditions a neurologist sees are migraine, Parkinson’s disease epilepsy or multiple sclerosis. My main interest is in diseases caused by the immune system that affect the nervous system in other words something goes wrong with the immune system and it starts attacking the nervous system. Caroline Boshell I am a GP Partner in an urban practice in Derby.  Since I started my career I have had a number of additional roles, including working for Contraceptive and Sexual Health services in Derby, and as End of Life Care Lead for the local Clinical Commissioning Group. I am also a GP trainer and enjoy encouraging our future GP workforce to develop and grow. Since February 2022 I have held an education role within my Primary Care Network and I am enthusiastic about the growth of allied professional roles in primary care to support existing services. While developing this role, the importance of embedding staff wellbeing alongside education and training became clear.
